It is a pervasive disorder affecting at least 1%-2% of children,20% older. The age distribution of sleep ap-nea follows a J-shaped distribution. There is a peak in children. Obesity can also cause obstructive sleep apnea.

Causes and Diagnosis

Every disorder has a purpose, and if we can find the reason, then we can also solve the problem. Doctors are saying that the leading cause of obstructive sleep apnea is obesity, as the soft tissues in the mouth and throat obstruct the path of air. So if one can control food habits, then it is curable. Parents should monitor the food habits of their kids. Diabetes is also a cause for this disorder, as diabetes causes obesity sometimes. So to cure these problems, first of all, we have to change our food habits .we should have healthy diet planning with proper carbohydrates proteins, and vitamins .we should avoid oily foods, especially the parents should help their kids not to have fast foods and fatty foods. Because children are more prone to obstructive sleep apnea. The elders should have regular health check-ups because older adults are inclined to have diabetes, so for preventing this, they should have proper health check-ups. Sometimes high blood pressure levels can cause obstructive sleep apnea. So the older adults should check their blood pressure. For the psychological causes, the patient should consult a good psychologist. Psychological problems are not a matter of shame. So fearlessly, one should consult a psychologist if the reasons are psychological.
